100年前の舞妓さん
今と変わらない
韓国と違い伝統衣装の全てに意味がある
1年目の新人舞妓が履くおこぼの花緒は赤色で、台の裏には鈴をつけられる。2年目からはピンクやひわ色（黄緑色）、水色など、花緒の色を徐々に変える。口紅は舞妓になったばかりの間は下唇だけにいれる。髪型は最初は赤い鹿の子が前後からのぞく「割れしのぶ」から始まり2年ほどすると、結んだ布が後ろ側からだけ見える「おふく」となる。髪には四季の花などをあしらった華やかで可憐な花簪を1、2ヶ月ごとに季節で替えて挿す。

1년째의 신인 무기가 신는 의 화서는 적색으로, 받침대의 뒤에는 방울을 달 수 있다.2년째부터는 핑크나 히원색(황녹색), 물색 등, 화서의 색을 서서히 바꾼다.립스틱은 무기가 된지 얼마 안된 동안은 아랫 입술인 만큼 넣는다.머리 모양은 처음은 붉은 새끼 사슴이 전후로부터 들여다 보는 「갈라져 그리워한다」로부터 시작 2년 정도 하면, 묶은 옷감이 뒤측으로부터만 보이는 「닦는다」라고 된다.머리카락에는 사계의 꽃등을 다룬 화려하고 가련한 화잠을 1, 2개월 마다 계절에 바꾸어 꽂는다.
