The good or bad communication between interior designers and construction staff directly affects whether your work is smooth or not! Therefore, how to deal with the relationship with construction staff is particularly important.
Many designers have more or less encountered a situation where construction workers do not listen to instructions and like to do things according to their own habits. So, how do we better communicate with workers?
1 Have strong professional knowledge
When you become an independent designer, you must not only understand design but also understand a very important knowledge, that is, "construction technology." If the construction staff find that you do not understand the construction process, or have little knowledge, many times they dare not listen to you.
I used to have a construction site in Anhui. At that time, I was installing stairs on site. The stairs were welded with a flat iron and inlaid with elmwood boards. The elm board is provided by our company, and workers are not willing to install it properly.
At that time, when they saw me, a female designer from other places, they deliberately made it difficult to say that they would not install it, and asked me to install it on-site to show them!
I glanced at it and sneered. The railing only needs to be drilled through the flat iron, and then the elm board is fixed with nails. In fact, no technical content is required.
So I put my hands on my chest and replied with a high posture deliberately. I was only responsible for the design. Installation is your specialty. If you don"t understand, then ask your foreman to teach you. I have no obligation to teach you how to do things!
The foreman hiding behind saw that I was not afraid to make things difficult, and looked like you like to do it or not, so he came out to make around and let the workers cooperate with the work well, and then everything went smoothly!
Therefore, only the designer himself is aware of the craftsmanship, and you will have a high degree of confidence in the control of the construction site. Then the construction staff will naturally listen to you, and even provide you with many simpler construction methods!
02 Detailed construction drawings
Construction drawings are the basis for on-site construction. The more detailed the drawings, the lower the probability of on-site errors. If the construction personnel does not follow the requirements of the drawings and make mistakes, they will ultimately lose themselves!
However, if the designer"s construction drawings are not detailed and there are problems, not only will the loss be borne by the designer, but the construction staff will also have doubts about your ability, and the construction site project will not be able to proceed well!
3Communicate directly with the project manager
Under normal circumstances, the designer does not need to communicate directly with the workers. When the construction site starts, only need to bring the drawings and make an on-site confession with the project manager (contractor) in charge of the site.
If the project manager thinks that your level is not enough and throws you at the workers, then you can directly refuse the on-site confession and report the situation to the superiors. Under normal circumstances, things can be resolved quickly!
4 Do not deliberately please the construction staff
Once accompanied a colleague to her construction site, she said before going to buy something for the workers on the construction site, and then saw that she bought a lot of fruits, drinks, and even cigarettes.
I said, why do you a designer buy so many things for workers?
She couldn"t help complaining. Every time she went to the construction site, she had to bring a lot of things to the workers. Otherwise, the workers would not cooperate with her work well, and she would have nothing to do!
It is true that some construction personnel are not of high quality, and often do not construct according to the designer"s requirements, which adds a lot of trouble to the designer! So many people think that the construction personnel just want to please him, and if they don"t give him something, they deliberately take Joe, causing some personnel They are all being condoned.
My colleagues use the method of flattering so that they can cooperate more because of the cannibalism, make fewer mistakes, and make themselves more relaxed.
But what is the actual effect? As far as I know, my colleagues construction site has the most problems, and there is almost no time when the leader does not wipe her ass.
